Consultancy

Brunel allows me to work for external organisations in a consulting capacity. At the moment, I am especially interested in working on projects around digital money and the financial technology industry (fintech), covering interaction design (IxD) and user experience design (UxD) for digital payments, and alternative and digitally delivered financial services. This includes developing new forms and approaches to user interaction around traditional financial services (trading, loans, financial management) as well as recent developments in peer-to-peer lending, blockchain, smart contracts and cryptocurrencies. I also have considerable experience working on projects involving user studies and interface/interaction design for mobile technologies and ubiquitous/pervasive computing around interpersonal communication and collaboration.

Our group at Brunel has the experience and resources to undertake most aspects of design – in prototyping and evaluation, developing requirements and ethnographic fieldwork, and we can undertake a range of different kinds of work across these areas across a variety of timescales. We offer expert and independent insights, analysis of and opinions on research, policies and practice, advice and input into research design, data collection and analysis, support for user-centred design activities, input into experimental and prototype design, and can help identify evidence of emerging and future trends. If you are interested in using our services, please contact me at <dr.mark.j.perry@googlemail.com> to discuss your needs.

I have performed consultancy or acted in an advisory role for several organisations, including Microsoft Research, Hewlett-Packard, the BBC, The Appliance Studio Ltd., Huntleigh Diagnostics Plc., British Telecom, Plextech, Ove Arup and Partners Communications Group, Telephonica (Spain), Orange S.A., Symbian Ltd., The Bristol Pound CIC, the Research Council of Norway, NordForsk (the Nordic research advisory body), and FastFin (USA).
